Shop and Gems

Pelicook is free to play. You can play everything without paying. This page explains, in plain words, how Gems and the shop work, so you know exactly what happens before you decide anything.

What are Gems?

Gems are Pelicook's second kind of play money (the first is Coins).

  • You earn Gems by playing, for example from your stamp card, goals and rewards.
  • Gems are not real money. You cannot cash them in, sell them or give them to other players.
  • Gems never expire. Gems you earn and Gems you buy work exactly the same.
  • Every Gem price in the game also shows roughly what it is in euros, like ≈ €0.50. That way you always see what something is worth. We count with the smallest pack: €0.99 for 100 Gems.
  • When you spend Gems, the game uses your earned Gems first, then bought Gems, oldest purchase first.

What can you buy with real money?

Only two things: Gem packs and the one-time Welcome Pack. Everything else in the shop costs Gems.

Golden Pot of Gems10,500€79.99
  • Prices include VAT. In the App Store or Google Play you see the price in your own currency, with the taxes there.
  • Peli's Welcome Pack costs €2.99 and gives 300 Gems plus 4 decorations for your restaurant. You can buy it once per account, from level 6.
  • What you get is always fixed and shown before you pay. There are no loot boxes, no mystery packs and no wheels of luck in Pelicook. Never.

What do Gems buy?

  • Items for your restaurant, such as decorations, outfits and pets. Some can also be bought with Coins.
  • Sets and weekly offers: a few items together for Gems. An offer that runs for a limited time shows a calm end date, lasts at least 2 days and is never made longer or shorter. The items can also be bought one by one.
  • Look & Style sets: matching outfits and looks for your chef.
  • Coin packs: Coins for Gems, from level 6. How many Coins you get grows with your level. You can buy each Coin pack once a day.
  • Finishing a long wait: a dish, herb or delivery that still takes 30 minutes or more can be finished at once. The price depends on the time left and is shown first. Progress you speed up counts the same as any other progress.
  • The season pass: see below.

Before you spend Gems, you always see what you get, the price in Gems, roughly what that is in euros, and how many Gems you keep. You tick a box yourself to say you want it right away and know you cannot undo it afterwards.

The season pass

A season lasts a few weeks. While it runs, your daily and weekly goals fill the season pass.

  • The free track is for everyone.
  • The premium track costs Gems (the price is shown in the game) and is only for that one season.
  • It gives decorations and other things for your look, plus a few Gems. It never makes you stronger.
  • It works backwards too: steps you already reached open straight away when you get the premium track.
  • You cannot buy steps. You only move up by playing.
  • The season ends on the date you see in the game. Rewards you reached but did not collect are given to you automatically at the end.

Videos for a small reward

In the phone app (once it is out), you can choose to watch a short video for a small reward, for example 30 minutes off a long cooking time, or a few Coins.

  • Watching is always your own choice. Nothing happens if you skip it.
  • Videos never give Gems.
  • There are no videos in the tutorial or in the shop.
  • On this website (the browser game) there are no videos.

Purchase settings and teens

In Settings > Purchases you choose how buying with real money works:

  • On: you confirm each purchase once, as usual.
  • Confirm: each purchase gets an extra check step first. This is the standard setting for players aged 13 to 17.
  • Off: buying Gems with real money is switched off. You can still use the Gems you have.

Good to know for teens and parents:

  • In the web shop (on this website) you can only buy if you are 18 or older. Before you go to the payment page, you tick "I am 18 or older".
  • Under 18? Ask your parent or guardian before you buy anything in the app. The parental controls of Apple (Ask to Buy) and Google (Family Link) also work.
  • Players aged 13 to 15 see no special offers or highlights in the shop. They can still look around and buy, with the settings above.

Who sells, and how do you pay?

  • On this website, payment goes through Link, a service of Stripe. Stripe is the seller of what you buy there (Stripe calls this "merchant of record"). You pay on Stripe's own payment page; we never see your card details. Your receipt comes from Link and your bank statement shows LINK.COM*.
  • In the app, you pay through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). They are the seller there.
  • Your Gems arrive in the game as soon as the payment is confirmed, usually within seconds. You can see all your purchases in Settings > Purchases.

Changed your mind? The 14-day withdrawal

For Gem packs bought on this website, you can change your mind within 14 days, as long as you have not used any Gems from that pack yet.

  1. Open Settings > Purchases.
  2. Pick the purchase.
  3. Tap Withdraw purchase and confirm.

The Gems of that pack leave your balance, and Stripe sends the money back to the way you paid. You can also write to support@pelicook.com within the 14 days.

When can you no longer withdraw?

  • After 14 days.
  • When you have already used Gems from that pack.
  • For the Welcome Pack: its decorations arrive straight away, so it cannot be withdrawn.
  • For things you bought with Gems: you get them straight away and you confirmed that first.
  • Bought in the App Store or Google Play? Refunds go through Apple or Google, under their rules.

Something went wrong with a purchase? Write to support@pelicook.com and we will look at it together. Your legal rights always stay.

Refunds and Gem debt

Sometimes a payment is paid back later, for example by Apple, Google, Stripe or your bank.

  • Then we take back the Gems from that purchase.
  • If you already spent some of them, your Gems go to 0 and the rest becomes Gem debt.
  • While you have Gem debt, you cannot spend Gems. You can still play as usual. New Gems pay off the debt first.
  • Things you already got stay yours.
  • You get a calm message in your mailbox that explains it. Do you think it is a mistake? Write to support@pelicook.com.

If an account has two or more refunds within 90 days, a person from our team may take a look. That never leads to an automatic ban.

The rules in full

The full rules are in our terms of service (section 11) and the privacy policy (what we store about purchases). More questions? See the FAQ.
